The Science of Bolt Tightening

All the bolted joints get relaxed when they are tightened which is brought around by embedment and gasket creep. Electric interactions take place as bolting of multiple bolts in a joint and loosening a joint occurs. The process by which force to joint members is applied for tightening a bolt is known as bolt tightening. There are areas where nuts and bolts are used, and with each nut and bolt, the user needs to apply the right torque to the nut that can help the user to get perfect pressure on the required areas of the machine.

The torque wrench generates compressed air with the assistance of water tap that controls the pressure developed per unit, an oil lubricator, and a manometer.

  • Pneumatic torque wrench-angle version

The internal architecture and functioning of this bolt tightening torque machine are same as that of the regular pneumatic torque wrench. The pros of using this device are that it provides safety and the torque can be synched according to the need.

  • Electric torque wrench

The electric wrench is one of the most commonly utilized devices. This bolt tightening machine is the amalgam of planetary transmission and the transmission coupled with electric drive. This drive is equipped with an electric motor which supports the electronic circuit control. The torque controller helps in getting the required torque.

  • Electric torque wrench-angle version

The internal circuitry and working of the electric torque wrench where the angle version is same as that of the electric wrench. However, this machine has an added feature of tightening the nuts and bolts at some particular angle.

In this bolt tightening method, torque value controls the tightening of the bolt. It is the most commonly used method and is quite simple.

  • Heating process

Temperature maintains the elongation of the bolt by means of the heat supplied.
