Importance of condensers and their maintenance

One of the most flourishing and fastest growing industries is heat ventilation and air conditioning growing at a very fast pace. It has become a very essential and important part of service for many industries. Industries like ice factories, cold storage, chemical laboratories, and food storage warehouses need a vast temperature differences between two points and they use heat pumps or condensers for that. A condenser is sophisticated equipment, which can be used for creating vast temperature drops between two different places. The condensers work same as the air conditioners, but have several slight differences in them. The heat pump or condenser not only provides the cooling effect but also provides heating effects, which make them usable for summers as well as winters. Condensers are widely used not only for commercial purposes, but also for domestic usage too.

Boiler tubesMost areas where condensers are used are those, which receive all four types of seasons throughout the year. An important aspect of any condenser is the pressure of the condenser. It is essential to maintain proper amount of pressure to make sure that we get proper working of the condenser. The working principle of condenser states that when a fluid is compressed by force to a certain degree, the temperature of the fluid rises, and when the fluid is decompressed by releasing pressure, the temperature goes down very rapidly leaving it cooler than its actual temperature. This temperature drop is used for cooling purposes in various fields. The condenser tubes are filled with a fluid, generally, a refrigerant, which is compressed using a high power compressor, and when the fluid is compressed and heated, it is cooled down using water or air. When this cold fluid is again decompressed, the temperature is very low, which is used further for various functions.

The tubes fitted in a compressor are very delicate and can be damaged easily. If there are damaged tubes installed in a compressor, it is not possible to attain maximum efficiency of the condenser, and hence, it would cause economic losses. There are many different threats to the condenser tube such as choking of tube, leakage due to chemical contact, corrosion, mechanical impacts and several others. It is important that you check your condensers at frequent intervals to make sure that no tubes are damaged or leaking. If there are any tubes damaged or have leakage, you must replace them with immediate effect to avoid any further loss. If replacing the tube is not possible, you can choose to insert another tube to the existing tube by expanding it. You can expand the diameter of the tube using a condenser tube expander, and then, insert a new tube of same size into it to restore its function. In order to keep your condenser at maximum health, you must perform regular maintenance of the condenser, and for that, you must have proper tools such as tube cleaners, tube expanders, etc.
