Different bolting tools used in various industries

In an industry, there are many small and big industrial tools that are used to extract the best productivity out of the workers. These industrial tools become the best companion for the workers in the industries as they allow them to deliver their best performance with high accuracy and with very less efforts needed. If you also need to extract the best efficiency from the workers working in your industry, you must use proper industrial tools that make your operations easy and accurate. Bolting is one such equipment that is used for fastening and loosening fasteners and nuts in various machines and products of an industry.

Bolting is an important operation as proper bolting is necessary to ensure best quality of the products, as well as safety at work, hence it is important to use proper bolting tools in the industries for better and efficient bolting operations. Here are some of the major bolting tools used in most of the industries.

Impact wrenches are mainly used for the operation in which you need very speed and high power for bolting operations. The impact wrenches work using a very high impact exerted on the fasteners. The high impact on the fasteners moves the fasteners and tightens or loosens them. The high speed impact wrenches are used along with impact sockets, which are specially designed for bearing the heavy impacts exerted by the wrenches on them. Using normal sockets with impact wrenches is not advisable as they can deform and shatter in very little time of usage which not good.

Torque wrenches

Torque wrenches are also used for operations where you need extremely high speed and very high power for bolting operation, but the torque wrenches also provide a very high degree of accuracy in the bolting operations, as well. The torque wrenches are provided with a digital or analogue meter, which can be used for determining the amount of torque that you have applied on the fastener hence it becomes easy to know when to stop the application of torque.

Torque multipliers

Torque multipliers are specially designed bolting tools which work on the ‘Epicyclic Gearing’ principle. It is used for the bolting operations where you need a large amount of load on the fastener. The torque multipliers eliminate the need for long levers for achievement of such high loads. Long levers are not suitable for safety reasons and space limitations. The torque multipliers are available in several different types such as hand torque multipliers, electric torque multipliers, etc.

Nut splitters

Sometimes nuts get jammed due to several factors such as rust. Most of the people tend to move these nuts by means of hammering, which is not right as it can damage the nut head, as well as the assembly. These jammed nuts can be easily moved in very short time without making any damage to the nut and the assembly nearby.

Torque wrenches- An essential bolting tool for industries

Bolting is a type of operation that is carried out in almost every large scale industry on a daily basis. In order to perform these operations efficiently, you need proper tools for that and wrenches are the best tools for this purpose. A torque wrench is a very useful product that is used in almost every industry, and due to its precise and powerful application, it is a must have for any industry. It gives you freedom of applying very precise amount of force to twist any fastener, which prevents the chances of breaking and cracks. Although, there many other ways of tightening a fastener such as simple open end wrench, impact wrenches and others, but torque wrenches are used where you cannot afford to over tighten the fastener. Use of torque wrench also ensures that the fastener is tightened properly and is not left loose.

Electric torque wrench uses an electrical drive, which is connected to a gear box so that it provides appropriate force that is required for the operation. It is provided with a digital display where you can get a reading of how much force has been applied on the fastener so that you know when to stop.

Pneumatic torque wrench uses the power of compressed air to generate desired amount of torque to be applied on the fastener. This type of wrench has a gear box with a very high gear ration, which delivers a very high range of torque. The problem with pneumatic wrench is that it is very noisy, and you cannot use it at the places where you need a very quiet operation. Pneumatic wrench is also provided with a digital metre, which displays the amount of force that has been applied so that you could stop applying force when you have reached the desired level of torque. Pneumatic wrenches are comparatively lighter and smaller than the electric or hydraulic wrenches. Pneumatic wrenches need and air compressor to produce pressure of compressed air.

Hydraulic torque wrenches are used for very quiet and precise operations. When you cannot afford even the slightest of mistakes, you should use a hydraulic wrench as it is the most efficient and accurate among all others. It uses the power of compressed fluids that is turned into torque. These wrenches are also provided with a digital display that keeps telling you about the amount of force that has been applied to the fastener.

Some of the torque wrenches can be pre programmed for a desired amount of torque; hence you need not to worry about over tightening of the fasteners as it automatically stops applying force on it when the pre-set value of torque is reached.
